FAQ 1

How fast do I fall? Freefall averages 120 miles per hour or 200ft per second.

FAQ 2

Are the landings hard? Normally there is less impact than jumping off a chair.

FAQ 3

What clothing should I wear? We recommend that you wear a long sleeve shirt or sweat shirt. During the winter, it is best to wear skiing or snowboarding apparel. We provide you with a jumpsuit to wear in freefall. Sports shoes or snow boots are recommended.

FAQ 4

Is there a weight limit? After 200 lbs., the tandem master must use his or her own discretion with the weight based on safety precautions. All tandem students must be height and weight proportionate. For example, a person who is 6'4" and 250 lbs. is much different than a person who is 4'9" and 250 lbs. Good physical health is required.Although SkydiveTahoe.com would like to take all people, we are bound by safety requirements.

FAQ 5

Are there any age limitations? You must be 18 years old. There is no upper age limit as long as you are healthy.

FAQ 6

Can I breathe in freefall? Yes, there is lots of air around you.

FAQ 7

What does it feel like? It is an indescribable experience, but we will tell you that it will be your most exhilarating experience yet!

FAQ 8

How long do I fall? You will freefall about 60 seconds and then enjoy a 5-7 minute parachute ride.

FAQ 9

Will I be scared? It is normal to be apprehensive about jumping from an airplane. The airplane ride up is typically where most students feel the most anxiety, but few jumpers report feeling anything but exhilaration once they’ve left that door!

FAQ 10

What height will we jump from? We typically go to 13,500 feet above the ground (that's 18,000 above sea level), so that is about 65 seconds of freefall.

FAQ 11

How experienced are the instructors? All of our instructors are certified by the United States Parachute Association. Our instructors have several thousand jumps. We pride ourselves on providing the best quality of service and instruction.

FAQ 12

Can I learn how to be a skydiver at this drop zone? Yes, we have two different training programs including tandem progression and accelerated freefall. Once you are certified, Skydive Tahoe has rental gear available and our instructors will help you find your own gear when you are ready.

FAQ 13

How long will I be at the drop zone for my first jump? For a tandem skydive experience, (depending on how many people are in your group) you should plan on spending 2-3 hours, but most people only take about an hour; we use the extra time in case there are any hold ups (weather, flight traffic, late or lost patrons, etc). If you come with a large group, it may take longer.

FAQ 14

Can I buy a gift certificate? Gift certificates are available for any of the experiences we offer

FAQ 15

What do I wear? Wear comfortable clothing and athletic shoes that lace. No shoes or boots with heels or "quick lace" type hooks. If you are jumping during the colder seasons, you may want to add another layer under your normal clothes. Jumpsuits will be available, or you can jump in street clothes.

FAQ 16

What will the skydive feel like? The sensation of freefall feels more like flying than falling. Some people describe it as sticking their head out the window of a car on the freeway with the rapid wind sensations. Once the canopy opens, the flight is quiet and the view is breathtaking and exhilarating.

FAQ 18

How long does the skydive last? A tandem skydive will consist of 60 seconds of freefall, followed by a 5-7 minute parachute ride back to the ground.

FAQ 17

How long does it take? With a party of two or less, make sure to reserve 2-3 hours, but it normally takes less than an hour. We would like you to have a great experience, so please reserve enough time in case there are any holdups.
